Laughter Yoga is a unique concept where anyone can laugh, for no reason at all, without relying on comedy, jokes or humour. It begins as a physical exercise in a group, but with playfulness and eye-contact, the laughter becomes contagious and genuine. We practice deep, yogic breathing as this brings more oxygen to our body and our brain and helps us to feel better. Laughter Yoga is based on a scientific fact that your body cannot distinguish between laughter that is real and laughter that is fake, as long as it is done willingly. So, either way, you reap the benefits!
A Laughter Yoga session involves clapping, deep breathing exercises, childlike playfulness and laughter exercises. Afterwards, we relax with a short meditation.
There is no hierarchy in Laughter Yoga, no right or wrong. Come, laugh, have fun, feel good afterwards!

Heather Ratz loves to laugh and has been doing so each and every day since birth.  She has no proof of this but anyone who knows her would tend to agree.  Simply laughing wasn’t enough for Heather so she became a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader so she could share this experience with others.  Laughing doesn’t necessarily pay the bills though so Heather’s day job is as the CEO of the Brighton Public Library.  She laughs there too but it’s a much quieter laugh.
